Hostal Rural Las Nubes

We were left stranded after booking by phone. When we arrived, nobody was there, and the owner didn’t answer our calls. We asked a local business to help us reach the owners. The only person from the owner’s in-laws who responded was willing to come and speak with us. They got in touch with the owner’s son, who told them to leave us there. Then, five minutes later, someone who knew the son walked by and said he was at the bar next door having beers with friends. She called him, but he still didn’t pick up. The whole situation was surreal. I was completely stunned.

The location is good and the rooms look nice, but the problems show up once you’re inside. There’s no Wi-Fi or internet, and there are no blankets or air conditioning if you get cold. The toilet is partly broken, the outlet is blocked behind the bed, the lamp has no bulb, and the shower gives only a trickle at very high pressure, which makes it uncomfortable. The TV remote doesn’t work, and the TV sits on top of the wardrobe. Not recommended.

The bed was comfortable and the heating worked well. There were plenty of blankets in the closet, though we didn’t need them. The room and bathroom were clean, and the facilities are very well kept. As other guests have said, breakfast is served at the owner’s bar. The price seems reasonable for the quality.

We had to move to another hotel in Covarrubias, and the whole experience was awful. Another couple was in the same situation. We’d booked a month earlier, but when we arrived, a woman met us in the street, said nothing about what had happened, handed us a key to the hostel next door on the same street, and told us to stay there. We drove by and saw it wasn’t the place in the photos at all. It was an ugly, old-fashioned, noisy hostel with nothing rural about it. When we asked what was going on, she arrogantly said she’d sold more rooms than the rural hotel had. She told us not to complain because at least she hadn’t left us on the street. The owner kept saying it wasn’t her fault and that these things happen. The treatment was poor and the solution was no solution. This hotel sells more rooms than it has and then puts you wherever it wants. Not recommended at all.
