We only stayed one night. The location worked well for us, just off the A92, and the salads we had for dinner were tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive, though breakfast was fairly basic. I can’t recommend Hacienda Mendoza based on the room we were given. It had so many faults that I got the impression maintenance wasn’t a priority. I sent them a list, so hopefully someone will look into it. I’ve stayed at much better places nearby.

The comfortable, beautiful room and relaxing outdoor seating areas made for a lovely stay. Add in the wonderful food and wine selection, and it’s a fabulous country hotel, run by a lovely couple.

This was a really upsetting meal, especially as we were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food took nearly an hour to arrive, and we ate in the dark, which made it hard to see what we were being served. I ordered dorada and got almost nothing but bones under a nice sauce. We were amazed nobody ended up in hospital. The replacement meat dishes were only fair, if I’m generous, and mine worked out at just under 10€ a bite. Someone at our table got a lump of fat and gristle passed off as steak, then paid 28€ for what was basically chips. To finish, they charged us 10€ for a basket of dry, stale bread that nobody touched. Do not go there. It was probably the worst and most expensive meal I’ve ever been served.

Dinner was fantastic, and the little touches and the attention the guests received made the stay special. There were six of us, four adults and two kids, and our rooms were clean and spacious. Highly recommended.

A friendly hotel in the heart of Andalucía. It’s especially handy if you’re planning to explore nearby Archidona, Antequera, lake Iznajar, loja, Granada, and plenty of other places.
