Esperanza Balneario

We'd agreed by phone that the spa would take us to and from the ALSA stop, 10km from where we were staying. They picked us up in Alcaraz when we arrived, our suitcases were already in the room, and everything seemed perfect. Yesterday, when we gave them our departure time, they said they couldn't take us because it was 10 km away. They gave us the number for a taxi driver who said she was the only one in town, and wouldn't come if Sescam or an insurance company called her for a ride. We spent the night worrying about walking 10 km along the Jaén national highway with our cases, at our age, and with no shoulder. I left the keys at reception, but nobody asked whether we'd found transport or helped sort out the taxi. Some guests at the spa kindly offered to drive us, so at least we didn't have to walk. In the end the taxi came and left us at the ALSA stop three hours early. There was no bar or anything, but we were thankful for the shade and for not missing our bus. If you've got a car and want peace and quiet, the place may suit you. Still, think twice. We felt abandoned, though I may be overreacting because I'm angry. The restrooms do come. We hope this never happens to us here again. These women won't be back. One more thing, perhaps the bar by the ALSA stop towards Jaén, just outside Alcaraz, could open. Cars pull over for a drink and ask whether it's going to open, but we leave at one o'clock and can't tell those thirsty drivers anything. Thanks for nothing.

We were surrounded by nature, and the location was great. The rooms were comfortable, and the whole spa was thoroughly clean. Service was phenomenal, the food was very good quality, and the thermal treatments are highly recommended.

The calm and beautiful surroundings at Baños la Esperanza make a lovely impression. Everyone was so warm and kind that it felt like being at home. The homemade food was superb, the cleanliness impeccable, and both the staff and management were outstanding. Peace and serenity are everywhere.

We went in September with my mother and found the place very family-like, with friendly service. The homemade food was delicious, unbeatable really. We'll be back soon.
