4R Salou Park Resort I

Salou is lovely, with nice beaches and lots to see, and the hotel is well positioned, close to good places to eat and bars. We ate out most of the time. But I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. The food was the same each day, the air conditioning didn’t work, and we were melting while trying to sleep. People could see onto our balcony, there was partying late into the night, and smokers were on both sides. We couldn’t leave the patio door open because of the noise. The hotel felt basic, and the reception staff didn’t seem to smile much.

We’re in room 519, which is spacious and spotless, and the air conditioning is a real help in this warm weather. The poolside bar is great, and the reception, catering, and cleaning staff have all been lovely. Check-in was easy, and the receptionist was very polite. The buffet is average, but I’ve always found something to eat. I’d been worried by the negative reviews, so I’m glad I trusted my gut and booked. Don’t let them put you off like they nearly did me.

The food was excellent, with a really good choice, and the staff were helpful. But after ten days, I wouldn’t come back. Our room was very basic, the beds weren’t changed during our stay, and the cleaning wasn’t good. We had to buy bleach to clean the toilet ourselves, and there were no toilet brushes. Towels were changed daily, but they weren’t good quality.

Room 609 was lovely and clean, with everything we needed, and the food had a nice selection. The location was brilliant, close to the beach, shops, and bars. The staff, though, came across as rude and hostile, like they’d rather be somewhere else. At times they made us feel uncomfortable.
