Best Negresco

We really enjoyed the coastal path that starts by the reception and leads into Salou, and there’s beach access there too, which was handy when the pool was crowded. The upper outdoor deck had a beautiful view, especially at sunset. Drinks were lovely and poured generously, while the bar snacks were okay: mostly burgers, chips, and hot dogs. The seating area outside was cosy. The pool was cold, and sunbeds were packed tightly together, with people trying to reserve them as soon as possible. Our balcony view was beautiful and the beds were comfortable, but cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The room was dusty, the floors weren’t clean, and there was a lipstick mark on the toilet seat. The shower flooded whenever it was turned on, and the soundproofing was poor enough that we could hear nearly everything from neighbouring rooms and outside. We stayed five days, and by the end I felt that was one day too many. The bar staff were lovely, especially Antonio and Jose Alexander. They were attentive and friendly, and made our stay better. Reception and restaurant staff were less helpful. When we asked simple things, like spa hours or whether food was allowed on the outdoor deck, they replied, “I don’t know.” Food was just okay, so we preferred exploring Salou and eating out. The buffet was very standard. Breakfast was decent but had little variety and was the same every day. Dinner was bland, with limited choices, and plates seemed a little dusty too. I was disappointed by the food and surprised by the service at a four-star hotel. I wouldn’t return to Salou and stay here again.

The peaceful setting suited us, and we loved the beach, about a ten-minute walk away. There’s a beach bar hut right there, a great place to relax by the sea. Across the road, a trip shop sells bus passes for £10, good for up to 10 people, which is an inexpensive way to visit different towns. A little corner shop nearby sells essentials, though not food or drinks. The hotel was very clean and well kept, and our sea-view room was a highlight. Food was great, with lots of options and themed nights. Half board worked well for us. Drinks cost around €7 for a half pint and sangria. Entertainment was only okay. I’d have liked music by the pool all day instead of just for part of it, and the evening programme could be better for all ages, perhaps with singers, bands, or games. One night we waited around two hours for a show, which was disappointing. The children enjoyed the nightly disco, but the games room was tiny. The pool was small, and there wasn’t much immediately around the hotel. It feels more like a 3.5-star place than a full four stars, but we enjoyed the quiet surroundings. I’d recommend it for a relaxing break with good food, nice views, and easy beach access.

The buffet is pretty good, with lots of choices and a different theme each night. There are several nice beaches nearby, and plenty of bars to visit. The rooms look modern, the showers are amazing, and the pool is very nice. You get good value for what you pay. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the people next door talking at night, and the air conditioning isn’t great. Staff can be blunt sometimes. We’re still happy with what we paid and would recommend it.

The breakfast buffet had a great range of choices, and the service was attentive and efficient. Our rooms were clean and had everything we needed, and the staff were so friendly and helpful that we felt at home. The location was ideal for sightseeing. We had a wonderful stay, highly recommend it, and will come back for a longer visit.
