The noise was awful. I’ve never stayed somewhere so loud, you can hear your neighbours as if you’re living with them. Go elsewhere and spend a little extra on a better hotel. The room didn’t look like the pictures and had very old furniture. The blanket was disgusting, with cigarette holes, the bed was old and noisy, and the whole of Salou could hear every movement. There weren’t any small lights, just one big lamp. At check-in, they asked for 30€ in cash, which already seemed strange. I had 50, but they didn’t have change and took more. The same happened with the tourist tax. I arrived at 3.30 for check-in and waited outside 40 minutes for the guy to arrive. After several tries by phone, I finally reached him. He just said, “wait 2 minutes.” He was very late and didn’t even apologize.

I somehow got through one night, but it’s scary to imagine anyone staying there for two weeks. The deposit is taken in cash at reception, supposedly so nobody takes their lovely furniture. The photos don’t match what you get. The room looked arranged just for the pictures, like home staging. The balcony was too tiny to be useful, the narrow window made the room dark, and there weren’t even bulbs in the lamp. The bathroom had mold. It felt like a hospital, with the charm of a prison cell. There were metal cabinets like something for a factory worker, plus a metal hanger. The mattresses were quite worn and sunken.

We slept really well for all three nights. For just £20/€22 per person per night, or €66 a night for a triple room, it was a bargain. PortAventura is only a 30-minute walk away. The room was very clean, with a big bathroom, great air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and a TV. There was even a water machine on the stairs. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, spoke good English and knew the area.

Cheap, clean and staffed by friendly, dedicated people. You get what you pay for. It’s good for young people who want to sleep near the beach, but not suitable for a business trip.

The same half-hour saxophone or trumpet playlist kept coming around, and it was noisy at night. People were smoking in the hallway too. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even to my annoying stepmother.
