Sol Costa Daurada

We've been back more than 20 times, and it's a great base for Port Aventura Park. The hotel and rooms are kept very clean, and the staff are lovely, especially at the bar. We usually book bed and breakfast because dinner at the hotel isn't really for us, and there are loads of places nearby where we like to eat. We'd recommend it and will be back next year.

We stayed over October half term with my partner and our seven-year-old, and we're already looking at booking again for next year. The hotel was immaculate, with really clean rooms and facilities and a fresh smell everywhere all day. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the entertainment team kept the whole family busy with fun things day and night. Breakfast and dinner were delicious every day, with enough choice even for fussy eaters. There was fresh bread and pastries, lots of different meats cooked until they were tender, and fresh fruit and salad at each meal. The bar had plenty of drinks, at reasonable prices. The location worked really well for us. It was a 15-minute walk to the beach, bars and shops, and about the same in the other direction to the theme parks. We were so glad we picked this hotel. It made our Salou holiday even more special, and we'd happily recommend it to friends and family.

We were at Sol Costa Daurada from 20 December 2025 to 2 January 2026. Black dust came from the air conditioning in our room every day, and reception didn't fix it despite us asking repeatedly. Everyone in our family, including my husband and our seven-year-old daughter, became seriously ill. We believe inhaling dust and spores from the air conditioning can introduce microorganisms into the respiratory tract and cause upper or lower respiratory infections. Our symptoms began during the stay, and three weeks after getting home we're still dealing with a dry mouth, sore throat, thick green phlegm, a persistent cough and loss of voice. The clinical picture is compatible with post-infectious upper respiratory inflammation, laryngitis or irritation of the trachea and bronchi. The doctor said the irritated, damaged mucous membranes could take 3 to 6 weeks to recover, even after the cause is gone. We emailed both the hotel and the booking platform, but nobody replied. This was extremely dangerous for our health, and I'd strongly warn other travellers to be cautious.

The hotel is in a residential area, farther from shops and amenities than we'd have liked. That's something to bear in mind if mobility is an issue, and you'll need to bring money for currency exchange since the hotel doesn't offer it. Still, the entertainment was different every night, and the poolside main bar served light snacks and drinks late. There are four bars in total, with opening times spread across the day. Our first impression was great: bright, airy and spotless, with welcoming reception staff. We were given a good room with a lovely pool view. A full-length mirror would have been useful, as the only one was in the bathroom. One odd thing at the bar, if you order bottled Coke rather than fountain cola, they pour it into a plastic cup and won't let you take the bottle to the table, even though you can take a beer bottle.
