Caybeach Princess

We loved our stay and have already booked to return next year. The bungalows are lovely and sit in a beautiful setting. The pool area is huge, with plenty of room to find either a sunbed or some shade. The beach is about a 25-minute walk away, though there’s a free bus every day. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, so check their opening hours if you plan to eat out.

It’s a good base, and we liked having our own space around the private pool, with no need to compete for a sunbed. The pool was too cold to use at this time of year, though I think it’d be great in high season. The pool bar food was a bad experience. We ordered takeaway, asked to sit down, got a beer, and waited. When I checked on the food, they handed it over cold. The guy behind the bar tutted and gave me a look when I pointed it out. He took it away and brought it back two seconds later, so we thought it had been fixed. Back in the room it was still cold and went in the bin. During the 5 to 6 happy hour, we were served beers in wine glasses, clearly not pints. We usually stay in Amodores and will definitely go back there next year.

The resort was very clean, and the huge pool made it easy to find a sunbed anytime since reserving them wasn’t allowed. We got a great stay for the price and expected less, so I’d stay again at that rate. The bungalow was spacious, with a lovely patio and table and chairs for an evening drink. There was only one air conditioning unit, in the bedroom. Our family of three had booked for a week, and the 17-year-old had to make a makeshift bed from the sofa, which wasn’t ideal because of his height.

The main drawback was how far everything was if you were walking with small children. We had to take taxis everywhere. If you’re on a budget and know that in advance, though, it’s an excellent place. For the price, there’s a lot to like: huge pools, two heated in winter, and a kids club that was well run for two hours a day. The receptionists were really helpful. The pool bar had very good sangria and pizzas. We tried breakfast one day and were surprised by the quality for 10 euro per adult, with lots of fresh fruit and omelettes made to order.
