Guatiza Apartments

The pool and sun decks were great for relaxing in the sunshine. The apartment is also well placed in Maspalomas, with beaches, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Its kitchenette had everything we needed for a short stay.

The room was spacious, clean and tidy, and the outdoor area was lovely and quiet, especially for adults. When staff were around, they were very friendly. A few things could be easier, though: reception isn’t open 24 hours, the kitchen is missing some cooking basics like a toaster, and we had trouble with the keys and getting departure information.

The internet was unreliable for a couple of days, particularly early in the morning. Otherwise, it’s a simple, pleasant place for a short stay. Staff were friendly and quick to respond, and the apartment had the essential appliances. We did need to adjust the water heater and fridge to get them to the temperatures we wanted.

The rooms can get pretty warm, as there’s no air conditioning. Still, I’d happily stay here again if we return to Gran Canaria. The gardens and apartments are immaculate, the pool is huge, and the pictures really don’t show how good it is. Our ground-floor apartment was spotless and had easy pool access. Wi-Fi worked best on the balcony and by the pool. The kitchen is very basic. Our kettle was broken, and there was no toaster. Reception is closed before 8am and after 4pm, so if you arrive outside those hours, your key is left in a lockbox and you’re given a code. The staff are extremely polite and use Google Translate if there’s a language barrier. The beach and Dino supermarket are nearby, and a taxi to Yumbo Centre costs only €3.
