Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa

I liked breakfast best, and the staff were appreciated. The hotel had live music on most nights, and there's a nice shopping area with well-known brands nearby. Our room and room service were great, and I liked the outdoor areas and pools, though big trees kept much of them in shade. Inside, the grey and black walls made the hotel feel very dark. I prefer a brighter place. We were on half board. The buffet changed daily and had plenty of variety, but I found it pretty average and not very appealing. There were only a few wines by the glass, and all the cheaper bottles had sold out. I attached photos. They also required a €700 deposit to cover drinks and extra services, with the costs deducted from it. I was satisfied with my stay.

The setting is beautiful, but I found the rest disappointing. The reception staff came across as rude and arrogant, and the service made the place feel far from a five-star hotel. I've stayed at many five-star hotels, so I don't understand this rating. It felt like Instagram versus reality: it looks great, but doesn't live up to it. The buffet was awful, the worst part of the stay. We had the unique package, so we didn't have to eat there much. I take my hat off to anyone who manages it every night. The usual scramble for pools and loungers was there despite the resort's size, even though we visited in October, outside the busy season. There weren't enough seats in the main entertainment area either. Everything was handled through an app, which is convenient, but I asked three times for help because our pillows were dirty and nobody helped. There are much better hotels elsewhere. Don't spend your money expecting an experience where the staff care.

We'd gladly recommend this resort after our week-long trip. My girlfriend and I were really happy with the stay. The staff were helpful and lovely, and we got champagne at check-in. Our large suite was very nice, and the cleaning was good. Things were changed every day while we were at breakfast. There were lots of pools and a million sunbeds to pick from, plus a really nice gym. We added the dinner and breakfast package and thought it was worth it. Dinner changed from day to day, which was nice, though the food itself was just okay, not the best. That's the only negative we had. Everything else was perfect.

We loved the hotel and were genuinely gutted we hadn't booked our stay there. We came across the resort while in the area, drawn in by the infinity pool and lovely outdoor seating, and ended up visiting several times during our stay in Gran Canaria. The pool is stunning, and the café beside it was a great place to sit with coffee or drinks and enjoy the view. We also spent time in the outdoor seating area, where live music and cocktails made for a lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely stay at Lopesan next time.
