Pasión Tropical

Giorgio and Massimo are wonderful Italians, so generous and great company. Their hospitality felt like being welcomed by family, and in just a few days the warm atmosphere seemed almost unreal. We had a fantastic time in a fantastic place and hope to come back in a few months. Thanks so much for a lovely stay 💜

Massimo and Giorgio, the owners, greet you with lovely smiles and bring so much energy and charisma. They are there for you throughout your stay. The resort is spotless and has a family feel that makes you feel at home. One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed.

The ocean is very close, the view is lovely, and the hotel is clean. It's a beautiful place with plenty going for it, but I came away feeling a bit lost. The owners are kind and show you to your room, though they don't explain anything, and everything shuts at 7 pm. You can still swim through the night, but the bar and sound system are closed, which is a shame. The studios are clean, pretty, and practical, but they're in the basement. For privacy, you have to close the curtains and sit in the dark. The rules aren't available in French, and they're incomplete in general, with nothing about the pool, jacuzzi, or how people should behave. Nudism is allowed, but it's unclear whether that applies only by the pool and solarium or on your own terrace too. Socializing was hard as well. Other guests seemed to look at us like slices of ham, especially when we were naked, and it was impossible to start a conversation.

After four days in this dreary place, we found somewhere else that let us enjoy our holiday, though it came at a cost. This was a dismal stay: the welcome felt glacial, with no smiles or friendliness, and amenities were practically nonexistent. The studios had no views and felt intensely confined, reached by what seemed like recreated trenches from Verdun. The Pasion Tropical website deserves congratulations for its staging. The photos could win an "Oscar," and the text an "Honorary Molière." The real stays, though, are nothing like that polished presentation. Pasion Tropical gets the "Bad Faith" grand prize. The reality was very poor, like a 1950s B-movie that has aged terribly, and the site's humor came across as a scam and an overhyped picture of a place to avoid if you don't want to come home depressed. The website says Pasión Tropical is in San Agustin, the greenest residential area of Playa del Ingles, 2.5 kilometers from the center and only 20 meters from the sea. It describes a quiet area of villas and low buildings, where you can hear the waves from your window. I think that must be meant as a joke.
