Hostal Quinta Santillan

My room was clean, but it was tiny, more cupboard than bedroom, and there was nowhere communal to relax. Getting to central Madrid took about an hour and a half on public transport. I didn’t feel safe at night, with no security or other staff on duty to help with problems or noisy guests. The room cards had the hostal name and room number printed right on them, which is crazy. If you lose yours, a thief could work out which room to enter, especially when reception is usually unstaffed. I couldn’t sleep because drunk neighbours in the apartments next door yelled, fought, and banged on security screens from midnight until after 3am. It’s too expensive for what it offers, and the place left me feeling unsafe. I wouldn’t stay again.
