Hotel Lido

The staff were lovely, and I personally enjoyed staying here. The town is laid back, with restaurants, some kind of amusement rides, and people dancing and playing music late into the night. It became one of my favourite stops on this year’s road trip. This is a very dated hotel. The only upgrade in the past 70 years was probably the AC, and literally nothing else. The bathroom has toilets from 1951 and an accompanying water heater. If you appreciate old things like I do, it’s a great choice. If you want modern standards, choose somewhere else. Once upon a time, this place was new, modern, maybe even luxurious. Now it’s right by the beach, and the rooms have balconies with beautiful views. Staying here feels like stepping into the past, or into the Disneymovie Cars 7.0.

We stayed for 10 days, and the sheets were changed only once. If we left them on the floor, they weren’t changed. The maid service was poor, too. A toilet roll and a piece of plastic stayed on the floor by the toilet for our entire stay. They took a T-shirt from my chair, washed it, and said it had got mixed in with the sheets, even though the sheets hadn’t been taken away to wash that day. They took away our air conditioning remote because we’d left the balcony door open. Then, to add insult to injury, they tried to charge us for breakfast on the final bill, even though we hadn’t had any. The staff were very rude. The hotel description says there’s a laundry service, but that isn’t true. There’s a hot water boiler above the door, held on by two bolts. The space around the toilet is so cramped that a very tall person has to sit sideways, and there was no shower head. All in all, this shouldn’t be a two-star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t go back.

We came back for a second birthday stay at this quaint hotel by the sea. Some areas could use a bit of care, but it was very clean and comfortable. Thanks, Lido, for making us feel welcome. See you next year. 😊 💖

The location is brilliant and everything was very clean. Walk along the promenade to enjoy the sunset, and stop at La Plazza for what might be the best pizza money can buy. Perfect.
