The beds were comfortable, and everything was clean, though the house has a rustic feel. We’d arranged dinner ahead of time, which was a real help on a freezing, wet and icy evening. Virginia served roast or stewed chicken with potatoes, green beans and ham, followed by lemon mousse. Breakfast came with the room: yogurt, salami, bread and jam, pastries, and coffee or tea. There’s one room downstairs and three upstairs, and Virginia speaks good English. She said many guests return while traveling from France and the Netherlands toward southern Spain. We stopped here on the way from Portugal to France, and she was very hospitable.

Virginia was so friendly and helpful, and had plenty of tips for places to visit. For the price, this place is hard to beat. I’d definitely come back.

The house was clean, and the hosts were warm and genuinely kind. I was walking the Camino as a pilgrim and needed somewhere to take a break. They welcomed me in and were very helpful. It isn’t a restaurant or café, but I’d keep it in mind for my next Camino. It’s outside Burgos city proper, though definitely an option if you’re walking the Camino.

We stayed at El Cauce for a weekend and had a perfect experience. The house was spotless, welcoming, and carefully looked after, with spacious, comfortable rooms.
