Apartment Sarriegi - Old Quarter

We had everything we needed: plenty of room for our things, a comfy bed, and a great shower. Our room looked over the square, which was pleasant, though we did hear a little noise. We accepted that as one of those things that comes with staying among the bars and restaurants. It’s a fantastic small hotel, right on the edge of the old town, with easy access to anywhere in San Sebastian.

The location is good, and there’s a lift to the second floor, but I wouldn’t recommend this pension unless you ask for a quieter room at the rear and they fix the a/c. Our stay was disappointing: the room was much smaller and more basic than the photos made it look, the air conditioning was broken and still wasn’t fixed after we asked twice, and constant road noise made things uncomfortable. The pillows were thin and uncomfortable, and there was no hot water on the first morning. The staff were nice, but not speaking English made communication difficult.

We really enjoyed the terrace, and the room was clean with good service. The location is right downtown, so it could be noisy for some European guests. My partner and I can sleep through almost anything, though, and left the window wide open at night. We’ll definitely return.

The staff were so friendly, and they welcome dogs too. Our room was roomy and clean, with plates and cutlery, plus complimentary coffee and water. It’s easy to get around San Sebastian from here, so it was a great base for our stay.
