Hotel Atari

Breakfast was excellent, and the service felt warm and efficient. We were in the Old Town, with a view of the Basilia from our room. I actually liked that room more than the one I had at Lasala.

Sara at the front desk made an already lovely hotel stay unforgettable. On checkout morning, my flight from San Sebastián to Madrid was canceled, with my onward flight to New York still to sort out. I had less than an hour, and my phone plan wouldn't let me call the Spanish airline. Sara jumped in, called them for me, explained everything in Spanish, and found other flights for the next day. As a solo traveler I would have panicked without her, and I'm so grateful. The location, rooms, breakfast, and service were all wonderful too. I'd give this place more than five stars if I could, and highly recommend it.

The room was on the small side, and we had to keep moving our medium-sized suitcases to open doors. Still, we slept comfortably once we shut the windows. The central location gets noisy with them open. Breakfast was incredible, definitely don't skip it. Aside from the cramped space, we had a comfortable stay.

We were offered a full refund after the hotel dropped to two stars before our trip, but chose to stay, and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean, nice, and roomy enough, with a balcony facing the church just about 20 meters away. There wasn't much staff, just a woman at check-in, though she arranged a taxi for our early departure. The location is handy for most tourist spots, and the breakfast was good, if not especially varied. I'd say it deserves at least three stars.
