Pension Aida

I’m really disappointed with how this went. I’d booked through Booking and told them I expected to arrive around 7 PM. They approved that, but when I got there, the pension door was locked and nobody was around. I don’t speak Spanish and didn’t have a Spanish phone, so I was stuck outside until two strangers helped by calling the place and trying to get me into my room. The woman on the phone was nice, which is why I gave two stars rather than one. They said the entry information should have come through Booking, but I never received it, and they hadn’t made sure I could get in smoothly. If I hadn’t found those strangers, I might have been outside all night. Getting into the room didn’t resolve things. There were two single beds instead of the twin bed I expected, and the promised street view wasn’t there. I could hear every toilet flush around and above my room through the window, and the towel smelled awful. Booking isn’t to blame here. If you won’t be there to welcome guests, it’s your responsibility to make sure they know how to enter. Good luck!

Paul made us feel welcome and went out of his way to help during our stay. His recommendations for things to see and do added a lot to the trip. The hotel is also well placed, about a 10-minute walk from the Old Town, with lots of pintxos bars and local places nearby. Getting around was easy. Our room was clean, well maintained, and had all the essentials. You could tell the little details had been considered. The only small issue was patchy WiFi in room 3. Paul said they knew about it and were working on improvements, which was reassuring. We had a lovely stay and would consider coming back. Highly recommend!

The staff took such good care of us, and the hotel’s location was close to everything. The room was gorgeous and spotless, and the whole place was exceptionally clean. My partner and I had come all the way from the USA for our anniversary, and we were delighted to find a bottle of cava and chocolates waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful surprise. We’re very pleased with the stay and would absolutely recommend it.

The host was very friendly. They accepted a package we’d sent from elsewhere and helped us store our bikes and luggage for the day. The rooms were totally fine, and I’d recommend it!
