Pensión Kaia

The room was clean and nice, and the fan helped. Best of all, it was insulated from the street noise. The woman at check-in was pleasant and gave us a key for the front door, so we could come and go any time. This is a great pensión for the price if you're here to explore San Sebastian's old city. Some of the best tapas in the region, maybe even in Spain, are only a few minutes away. The old city sits on a rock between two huge, beautiful beaches, with narrow, cramped streets and small, ancient buildings. It's not really a place for cars or modernity, so I'd ignore reviews focused on parking, check-in hours, or language issues. I'd stay again.

The room was clean and tidy, with a powerful shower and great air conditioning. Just ask at the desk if you want it set colder or warmer. The toilet paper could've been nicer, but otherwise it was a very pleasant stay for the price. We had what we needed, with a 30-minute walk to the old town, 20 minutes to the beach, and some lovely cafes and bars just 10 minutes away.

The old town location is superb, and the room was comfortable. For a pensión, this is a very good hotel. The service was great, too, everyone was friendly and ready with welcome advice to help us explore the city.

Avoid this place. The hotel was closed when we arrived, even though Booking said check-in was available from 2 pm. We tried reaching them from 1 pm to ask about parking, then got there at 2 and found the place shut. It stayed that way until 5:10, when an angry woman arrived who didn't speak English. We didn't feel comfortable staying, so we changed hotels. The entrance also smelled really bad.
