I booked in May for an August trip, and they charged me 20% of the total. We cancelled in July, a month before the trip, but they kept giving me the runaround about returning that amount. After the 30-day refund period had passed, Booking.com eventually had to cover it, despite my repeated complaints, even though the apartments had taken the payment.
