The pilgrims dinner was fun, and there’s a washer, dryer, and racks for hanging laundry. Staff are lovely and the rooms are clean. Bring your own linens.

The rooms have no proper sound insulation, so you can hear every word from next door. There’s no AC either. The building itself is beautiful and renovated, right in the village center, with lovely shared spaces and especially nice terraces with a view. Everything was very clean. The village is tiny, and on Tuesday nights everything else is closed, so this is the only place to get a meal if there’s room. We’d have booked if we’d known.

The Camino meal is traditional here. It wasn’t my favorite, though plenty of people went back for seconds. On my rest day I had lunch and dinner at the nearby restaurant, yum! I’d recommend this place over anywhere else in the area. One girl even changed her stay after a night in the next town because the Palace is just better. Buen Camino! There’s a lot going for the place: cold drinks in the fridge, lovely terraces, laundry on site, and lockers in the room. The beds were comfy and the rooms get really dark. Shower pressure and temperature were divine, though there’s no little shelf in the shower. Menno played piano while I drifted off into the best nap. Excellent place, and the best value on the Camino.

The dorms had new bunk beds and were well equipped, though they weren’t very spacious. The albergue is one of the more impressive ones on the Camino, set in a former monastery that’s been tastefully renovated. The outside areas, especially the terrace, weren’t well cared for and were covered in bird droppings. Cleanliness could use an upgrade.
