Dolce by Wyndham Barcelona Resort Hotel

The beds were extremely comfortable, and the down duvets kept us warm in the cool foothills weather. The rooms are okay, though the finish felt unpolished. In the bathroom, there's no door between the vanity and sink area and the bath, shower, and toilet area. The shower has smoky glass, but the toilet is left fully exposed behind clear glass. The hotel has also gone through several branding changes recently. Pool and spa hours are limited, though that may depend on the season. The buffet was adequate, not outstanding. As a vegetarian, I was offered two kinds of fried potatoes, some Asian rolls, and pasta with red sauce. None of the fresh vegetables or entrees were vegetarian, so it was basically a carb fest. There was a salad bar, but the lettuce wasn't very fresh. Breakfast was also adequate rather than impressive. I couldn't see a way to order omelettes, poached eggs, or anything made in the kitchen. The tea selection was large and delicious, and there was a wide choice of juices.

The restaurant food was tasty and fresh, with good-sized portions, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had. The hotel is close to the golf club, with spacious rooms, a nice bathtub and shower, and beautiful views. I did expect the rooms to be quieter. Noise carried from other rooms and from guests partying in the lobby. During the day, the cleaning staff banged into things and shut doors really loudly.

I've stayed here a few times for business, with the headquarter nearby. The mountain view is great, and the outdoor pool is a nice way to unwind after work. The bar has good local beers, including marzen, and the food is good too. The hotel is quite remote from Barcelona, about 43km and 75€ from El Prat.

Our group check-in took over an hour late at night. Even with a group booking, they checked all 50 passports like we were at a border. Was that really necessary? The hotel is beautiful and new, and breakfast was good, but it's far from civilisation. The wifi was terrible, too slow and having problems. If you need to work, try somewhere else.
