Hotel Plaça

I picked a balcony room facing the plaza, which was lovely in the evening, but not ideal when I wanted to sleep early with the window open for sea air. The bars and restaurants were still busy, so if you turn in early, ask for a room at the back. That noise wasn’t the hotel’s fault. I’d happily return: Hotel Plaça is very convenient for the beach. I arrived by bike on a whim and found a great off-season rate for a single room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a bidet. There weren’t fancy soaps or shampoos, but at that price I wasn’t expecting them.

The building is well looked after, though it isn’t especially modern. That worked fine for me since the hotel was a good base for sleeping and going out to explore. It’s right in the village center, and the people working there were welcoming and kind, always trying to meet our needs with a smile. The treatment throughout the holiday made for a genuinely heartwarming stay.

The staff were really friendly, which is why I’m giving it four stars, but honestly the hotel has a lot of issues. It’s well located, yet very old and seemingly not modernized. You have to leave the old-fashioned key at reception whenever you go out. The rooms are clean, but there’s only one outlet, and it isn’t near the bed. The air conditioning is just an on/off wall button, with no remote or temperature control. You can hear water rushing through the pipes whenever someone upstairs flushes. The spa is only a rooftop jacuzzi.

The room was spacious and looked out over the town square. Great location, and everything was very clean.
