The food was very nice, but expensive. Coffee cost £6-£10, and a medium-sized can of water was £6. The hotel looks lovely, but it didn’t feel like a five-star stay. Quick service seemed to come only when we were being charged. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and an hour for room service. On the second day, glass splinters in the carpet cut my foot twice. The room phone was broken, the WiFi didn’t work and the electricity kept cutting out. I spoke with the head of guest experience and received a couple of messages, but little help. I was promised a deep clean, which never happened.

Mr. Gilles from guest experience made our stay at Cala San Miguel Hotel more comfortable. He gave us helpful information, arranged bookings and made sure everything went smoothly. His kindness, professionalism and attention to detail stood out. The hotel is beautiful and relaxing, and the staff were welcoming throughout our visit. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Cala San Miguel Hotel to anyone visiting Ibiza.

The location is beautiful and idyllic, with sea views and green surroundings, though a rental car is strongly recommended because nearby amenities are limited to a few small supermarkets. The design is attractive, the materials are high quality, and the food at both the Steakhouse and La Savina is excellent, flavourful and well presented. Breakfast is outstanding, as are the desserts. But dinner reservations are required even with half-board, and nobody explained that at check-in. The menus are small and unchanged, which became noticeable over seven nights. Vegetarian choices were very limited at La Savina and almost nonexistent at the Steakhouse. Waiters would bring a separate vegetarian list if asked, but the dishes were all vegetables without much real protein. Self-serve coffee also feels out of place at this level. The room looks good, with quality materials, but housekeeping was not thorough. The shower glass, mirror, window and bathroom bin weren’t properly cleaned. The air conditioning shuts off when a window opens and doesn’t restart on its own, and housekeeping didn’t turn it on either, so evenings were often warm. Nespresso capsules were replenished only occasionally and on request, toiletries weren’t checked regularly, and once I ran out of shower gel mid-shower. There was no toilet brush. A laundry bag left for housekeeping was ignored. When I took it to reception that evening, they offered express service for an extra charge, which isn’t what I expect from a five-star hotel. Three of the four pools were free to use. They were large, clean and well maintained, with comfortable loungers. Pool food service stopped after the first few days, and drinks came only if specifically requested. The pool bar was closed in June. Towels required a deposit card, which also seems unusual for a five-star property. The Beach Club asked for a minimum spend of EUR 250 for two loungers or EUR 300 for a daybed. The only visible difference was towel colour and some sand on the floor, so it was nearly empty during our stay. Dropping that fee would make more sense. Staff were friendly and mostly spoke good English. Dinner service was split among several people for drinks, food, clearing and dessert, so sometimes things were missed. One moment stayed with me: a staff member stopped me refilling my water bottle at the Club reception dispenser and said it was only for welcome drinks. Whether or not the policy is justified, it leaves an impression. Prices were consistently high: EUR 140 for a one-hour massage, EUR 18 for an Aperol and around EUR 12 for a glass of wine. A 10% tip was automatically added to each bill without being communicated, and you had to ask for it to be removed. Guests get two cans of water a day. A filtered water dispenser would be more practical and sustainable. The location, design and food are genuinely good, but housekeeping, consistency of service and rigid policies don’t yet match the five-star positioning. It feels like many problems come from complex rules without enough consistent oversight. The water incident, towel deposit, Beach Club prices and parking arrangement all point to this: the Club car park was nearly empty while other guests were bused to a remote lot. With the right changes, this could be an excellent hotel.

We wanted to extend our stay, but instead had to switch hotels and end our holiday here. The hotel is cozy and quiet, with comfortable rooms and good breakfasts, but our experience of its security was deeply disappointing. We won’t return. Safety should come first, and I hope others have a better experience, but this was unacceptable for us. I left my Ray-Ban Meta (500€) smart glasses on a table by the elevator, directly in front of a security camera, and had a photo confirming where they were. Staff wouldn’t let me see the footage, saying the camera had apparently malfunctioned. The glasses continued connecting by Bluetooth for over four hours near the pool, which suggested a range of 5-10 m. Management kept delaying and wouldn’t call the police until I explicitly demanded it. By then the thief had already disappeared.
