Hotel Garbí Cala Millor

The food was the one real highlight, with lots of choice and very tasty dishes. The restaurant team were quick, friendly and efficient, and food stayed available until the last minute. The hotel itself is old, the air conditioning wasn’t enough, and the rooms and interiors were very hot. It’s clearly geared toward families, with plenty for kids and loud music by the pool all day, so it’s not a good choice for a quiet break. Our room wasn’t what we booked: we paid for a superior room but were given a standard one, quite small for three people. When we raised it, the receptionist got rude and insisted that was what we’d paid for, despite the photos and description on the hotel’s own website. She dismissed us and kept lying, and refused to speak English, even though she had been speaking it before we complained. I had to try to explain in broken Spanish. The hotel was fully booked, but after we contacted the travel agency, they arranged a move when a superior room became available. We were also offered complimentary drinks, a free safe and beach towels. The walk to the beach is about 800 metres, which was disappointing. There weren’t enough umbrellas or sunbeds, and no showers.

We travel a lot, and this was the worst all-inclusive hotel of its kind that we’ve stayed at. We spent a week there from 28th September. The reception staff were very rude. There was no drinking water, shower soap or conditioner in the room. Food choices were very limited and much too salty, and only a few drinks were included, with most costing extra. Beach towels cost 5 Euro plus a 10 Euro deposit. There were no snacks at the bar and no evening entertainment. The hotel is in the worst part of a beautiful city. We had a terrible holiday and would advise people to avoid it.

The rooms were very clean and kept that way, which matters a lot, and the staff were extremely helpful. The location is very good too. I’d say it suits families with children or older people, but not young people. They even organize a disco for the elderly. I’d heard the food was good, but I wasn’t impressed. There wasn’t much variety, and breakfast was dull, the same every day. The coffee was absolutely terrible, don’t even try it. Dinner was okay.

It wasn’t a pleasant stay. We arrived late and the rooms weren’t ready, so we had to make the children’s beds ourselves because no maids were available. There was no drinking water in the rooms. For a four-star hotel, entertainment was very poor, the food choices were limited, and meals were only served at three times: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
