Hotel Club Palia Sa Coma Playa

We barely slept during our week here. Some animal was moving around in the ceiling and woke us almost every night. When we reported it, staff said there were no other rooms or that maintenance would come, but nobody ever did. The hotel staff weren't very friendly or helpful about it. The food was repetitive, and most of the meat was undercooked, sometimes still a little raw, so I couldn't eat it. Wasps swarmed around the all-inclusive bar, and the bar staff did nothing to deal with them. The entertainment was very basic and boring, though the woman running it was extremely energetic and friendly.

The room looked nothing like the online pictures. In less than a week, the toilet broke twice, there was no air conditioning, and the room phone didn't work. Staff who were supposed to know some English spoke none. They switched to Spanish or walked off, and when helping one person they seemed to be juggling phone calls and several other conversations at once. That's poor customer service, especially when we've paid with money we worked hard for. I paid €18 to have Maria wash my clothes, but my tracksuit came back ruined. There wasn't enough explanation about what I wanted done, and Maria spoke no English and was handling customers alone. She should have had someone with her who could speak English. I'd rate this place 1/10. The way staff behaved and failed to explain things was unacceptable.

The entertainment crew worked hard and were so friendly, always finding something fun to get everyone involved in. They made the holiday for my boys and kept them busy. Nearly all the staff put in a lot of effort, though one barman was unfriendly and ought to retire. Our room was modern, large, clean, and had a great view. The food was decent but much the same each day, and sometimes cold in the restaurant. The pizza was amazing. Food at the bar was just hot dogs or burgers with chips, and could be very cold if you didn't get it right after cooking, but it was still okay. The beach nearby was lovely. We had a really good time and would go back.

There were plenty of sunbeds, the drinks were good, and the basic all-inclusive meals had a decent amount of choice. Shops and pubs are nearby, including a nice little Irish bar about a 10-minute walk away. The reception, bar, and entertainment staff were all friendly. The one problem was the step down into our room. It was dark when we came in, I didn't see it, and went flat on my face. Luckily I wasn't badly hurt. A warning sign or a heads-up at reception might have helped.
