Hostal Cal Pla

The trail was only about 50 metres from the front door when we set off in the morning, and dinner and breakfast were both included in the 100 euros my wife and I paid. Breakfast at the guest house was fresh pastries, fruit and coffee. Dinner was the famously generous meal people had told us about, served at the owner's restaurant nearby. The rooms were spacious, the hot water kept coming, and the water pressure was incredible. For a heritage place in the middle of the village, it was also very quiet, clean, cheerful and cosy without feeling too cosy. We were six Catalans and one Canadian, stopping overnight at Hostal Cal Pla during a four-day hike from Montseny toward Montserrat. As we came in from the east, the dry, bare stretch we'd been crossing gave way to orchards, newly sown wheat, pastures and the odd patch of russet rock. The owner, who runs the restaurant, recognized one of us from an earlier hike and greeted us warmly. After a few very cold, very welcome beers, she walked us down the street to the guest house. The building was made for an architect's family around the turn of the century. Its front has the local art nouveau look Catalans are known for, and inside there are original touches, including a tapestry, alongside furnishings from a local antique dealer. Strongly recommended.

A clean, peaceful place in a great spot for a break during a sporty weekend. We had a nice breakfast/lunch at the restaurant in the next building.

Run by lovely people, and the townspeople were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The hostel sits in a well-preserved Modernist Palace, right in the center, with plenty of charm for a few relaxing days. It's surrounded by a natural park with lots of routes to explore.

We could keep our bikes inside, which was handy. The owner was friendly and chatty, and our room was comfortable and quiet. The hostel is in the middle of this beautiful village, right near everything. We had toast for breakfast at the next-door Cal Ramon restaurant.
