The food and wine they gave me were excellent, and everyone at the place was patient with my bad Castilian and really friendly. I was there in 2015 while researching the Cathars on a trip. When I found out there were no buses, two friends of the owners, Americans living in Cervera, drove me from the coast to Sant Mateu. I can't speak highly enough of the service I got in 2015, though I have no idea whether the place has new owners now.

The restaurant serves typical Spanish food, made with a lot of care, and I had a great experience staying here for three nights. The rooms were clean and classy, and the boss, "hassan," was a great guy with lots of hospitality. You can have dinner there too. I'd come back.
