Hotel Balneari Termes Orion

The pool was nice, and dinner and breakfast were delicious, though there weren’t many choices for lunch. The main draw is the spa, so if you won’t use it, this place may not be worth it. The decor feels dated and the stairs were dirty. There was no kettle or anywhere to get water, and the room water was only lukewarm, so we had to buy it at the bar.

We liked our first visit enough to come back. The restaurant is a real highlight, with excellent starters and desserts. The format has changed since last year, when there was a gastronomic buffet. On Sundays and Mondays they now serve a set gastronomic menu, with just a choice of fish or meat while the rest is brought out for you. Prices vary quite a bit by season. We also used magma spa nearby, which was great, with a traditional hammam, sauna, and indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis.

Our child had a separate area in the excellent room, with a single bed. The hotel has lovely little alleyways inside and gives good service, with very good dinners. There’s a small, private spa in the hotel, plus a huge spa about 500m away with a range of pools and facilities.

We left without staying, and the trip there and back felt like a waste of time. The hotel is tucked away in a village forest. When we arrived, the staff gave us unfriendly looks that made us feel out of place. One person rudely refused to help and sent us to another receptionist, but we never got a clear answer about whether a room was available for one night. They also wouldn’t let us into the restaurant, saying it was closed even though people were still inside. There’s no room service. The outside looks beautiful, but we didn’t get to see what earns the hotel its high rating.
