Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa

The staff were a real highlight. Everyone we dealt with, from reception and the breakfast restaurant to the pool bar and cleaning team, was friendly, helpful and full of information. Breakfast had a huge selection, with something for every whim. We stayed four nights in late August in two suites. They were comfortable and clean, though not especially big for suites, and both looked over the pool and nearby shoreline. The hotel itself was consistently tidy and very quiet. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. The front entrance was less welcoming, as part of the large cupola above the doors seemed damaged and looked a bit sad. We saw some heated arguments over guests putting towels on loungers at dawn to reserve them. I don't use hotel pools, but I think establishments should stop this. One rainy morning, all those towels were left to get soaked while their owners were at breakfast, then had to be changed when the guests finally went to the pool. No one was poolside that early, and it was a waste of clean towels and hardly good for the environment. It's about a ten-minute walk along the promenade into the main town of St Eulalia. The restaurants and bars across the bridge are suboptimal and grossly overpriced, so keep walking into town.

We booked four suites for a week and expected decent service, but it was below par throughout. After 18 years of visiting Ibiza and trying different hotels, this was the worst service we've had on the island. We tried to check out halfway through, but the GM refused to refund the nights we had left. I won't return and will tell others to steer clear. The hotel looks nice but feels completely soulless, with service more like a three-star chain than a five-star hotel. There were too many problems to list, and none were resolved. Most of the staff, especially at reception, seemed incompetent, lazy and rude. Both the adults' and kids' pools were freezing because neither was heated. At the pool bar I ordered a jug of Cava sangria and watched it being made with ORANGE FANTA, for 45 euros. Breakfast coffee was undrinkable, so we went to the marina every day to get coffee. Although we had half board, the bleak, depressing evening buffet had no atmosphere, so we paid to eat elsewhere. Our room had no bathroom amenities beyond shampoo and conditioner fixed inside the shower. There was no toothbrush, toothpaste or cotton buds, and if you used the bath you had to go across the bathroom to the shower to wash your hair. The rooftop terrace with our jacuzzi hadn't been cleaned, and its bubbles didn't work. The list goes on. Please do yourself a favour and don't stay here.

The spa staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the spa itself is quite nice, but it felt too expensive for what you get. There was just one wooden sauna, around 70 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), with no headrests or clock. There are no clocks anywhere in the sauna area, so you have to keep returning to your cubicle to check the time. They don't offer sauna infusions either. Going in wearing swimwear felt strange, and unhygienic. I suppose that's how it is in some countries, but we didn't like it.

José and the team made our first wedding anniversary really special, from start to finish. We chose this part of Ibiza for the occasion, and I'm so glad we stayed here. Our room was lovely, clean and well equipped. The food was good, with lots to pick from at breakfast, and the location was perfect. It's a short walk to bars and restaurants, with some beautiful places a little further on by the marina. We just got back from four nights and had a brilliant time. Thank you so much!
