Maracaibo Aparthotel

The location is excellent, close to everything, and the beach is nice. Around the pool, maintenance was good and there were almost always sunbeds available. Reception staff were helpful, though the pool bar staff weren't very service-minded. The apartments themselves are nice, but there were giant silverfish insects everywhere. The shower had a little black fungus and the pillows were quite hard. It can also be noisy in apartments that don't face the pool. The fries tasted like fish, apparently because they use the same oil for frying fish. Would I choose this apartment hotel again? No.

The kids loved the well-kept pool, and we never had trouble finding sunbeds. Our room was cleaned every day. Ask for a pool-view apartment if you can, the view is lovely. The beach is just a three-minute walk away. We had a great time at Maracaibo Hotel. The staff were amazing, and Miguel made delicious cocktails and kept everyone entertained. We especially loved his singing on barbecue night 😁

The mattress on the main bed was super comfortable, and we had great weather for the family getaway, with daytime temperatures staying above 26°C despite it being the second half of October. Still, this wasn't the stay I expected. We chose the hotel for its beach proximity and the value described in the listing, but some of those listed features didn't match what we found. The room's A/C was just a fan and didn't cool. I reported it at reception and nothing was done. After I raised it with Booking.com, I was told it worked only above 25°C and that nights get cooler. But it didn't work during the day either, when it was surely above that temperature. Don't expect an air-conditioned room. With the windows open, the only workable way to sleep, noise from the courtyard and street was a problem, especially garbage collection just after 6am. The kitchenette was sparsely equipped, with just one pot and one frying pan. There was a strict quiet rule in the corridors after 10pm, but a live singer played on until midnight at a volume that meant everyone heard it, whatever their plans for the night.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, as I hadn't expected much. We rented two rooms from 14.08.24 to 22.08.24. It's about a four-minute walk to the sea and 10-12 minutes to Markedon or Aldi on foot, or six minutes by car. Cala Angula is 45 minutes away, and cala Agula is 35xv away. The pool was clean, and they'd replaced the unpleasant artificial grass with tiles, which is much better. The rooms have a microwave for heating ready-made food from Markedona, like pasta carbonara for 4.5 euro, and two separate beds for children, which I liked since many hotels only have a sofa bed. Bar prices were reasonable, and I especially want to mention the bar staff and Miguel for the great service and cocktails. A room facing the road can get some noise from condensers at the neighboring hotel, though with the doors shut it was fine. If possible, ask for a pool-view room. In my opinion, the price matches the quality.
