Hotel Villa Barbara

The staff were friendly, and I’m surprised by the reviews here. I paid around £720 for seven nights in the middle of July, which felt like a really good price. It’s basic, but I only needed somewhere to sleep and shower while enjoying my holiday during the day and at night. The beds were very comfortable, and someone came down to show me to my room when I arrived late. The lift is tiny, but that was fine with me. It serves its purpose and doesn’t deserve a one-star rating. I’m happy to give it four stars.

The staff were lovely and sorted out a replacement keycard without any fuss. We didn’t get towels at first, but reception apologized and brought some over straight away. The room was basic, though the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the towels were changed daily, which seems to be a thing for me every time! It can get warm indoors, and there’s no fridge, but opening the balcony door for half an hour at night made it much better. It was pretty quiet, both from other guests and outside. For the price, I really can’t complain. I’d definitely come back for another budget stay.

We got locked out of the hotel, but someone answered our very late night call quickly and helped us. The rooms do get quite warm, though I’ve had the same problem everywhere I’ve stayed in this heat. For the amount we paid, the room, safety, and location were great. Just don’t expect a five-star suite. As two young travelers, we’d absolutely stay here again.

We nearly skipped this place because of the reviews, but I don’t think they’re fair. We got good service, a nice hotel for a one-star place, and clean rooms. I’m not sure what some demanding customers expect, but around here this is the best value for money you may find. To those problem customers: sir, this is Wendy’s.
