The room felt cramped and rather dark, with hardly anywhere to put luggage, and the bathroom had no shelf for a wash bag. I think larger rooms are available, so it may be worth asking. Breakfast was good for the price and the service was attentive. The location is the big plus, handy for both the bus station and ferry.

We finished our holiday here after a week at a seaside campsite, using the hotel as a stop before our ferry back to the UK. Santander has a fascinating, creative, arty feel and deserves time to explore. The hotel itself made for a really enjoyable stay, and I’d come back if I can. From arrival, the staff were welcoming and knew the local area well, with useful suggestions for what to do and see. The décor is modern and stylish, with thoughtful touches, and our room was spacious. The beds were wonderfully comfortable too.

The room was a bit chilly, and adjusting the temperature didn’t seem to make much difference. The car park is over at the station, a few minutes’ walk away. As for the bed, it was two single beds pushed together, and there wasn’t space for a bedside table on one side. The light above the bed was awkward too, either right over my head or in the way when I got up.

Virginia at reception was a real help throughout, always pleasant and smiling, and able to assist with anything from directions to booking a taxi. The location is great, and I had a very nice, clean room. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and very good. My Camino del Norte agency assigned me this hotel, and after some hit-and-miss places along the way, ABBA Santander restored my faith in quality and honest customer care.
