Apartamentos Las Calas

I found the whole thing disappointing. The apartment we got was called "Campanilla" (Little Bell), a tiny cubicle with a triangular layout. I doubt there was even enough room to move between the rooms properly. Google Maps showed photos of several small apartments without making clear which one you'd get, so it was easy to be misled about what we'd booked. The apartment's own website does show it, but I didn't find that reliable either: we were charged €80 more for three days than the price advertised online. We only realized later, after comparing places during our week in Cantabria. Google Maps makes it easy to get the wrong impression. The washing machine made a terrible racket, the water heater took ages to warm up, and the tiny TV only had pay-per-view, none of the usual channels. It’s also more than 3 km from the center, around an hour on foot. The one good point was being allowed to park our motorcycle in the courtyard. There’s no room for a car. Nobody told us there might be a charge for parking the motorcycle, though with how the owner behaved, I’d ask ahead if you’re traveling by bike.

The hosts were lovely and friendly, and the apartment was even better than the photos. A group of friends and I stayed there, and it exceeded what we expected: spacious, bright, comfortable, new, and clean. The beaches are nearby, and El Sardinero beach, with its lively atmosphere, is about a 15-minute walk away. Highly recommended.

There are lots of windows, so the apartment gets plenty of light. It’s in a quiet residential area, close to everything, and parking is never an issue. The place was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. Some of the furniture is a little dated, though the kitchen, living room, and one bathroom have been renovated.

We were delighted with the service and would definitely stay again on a future trip to Santander. The apartment was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. It’s well placed for beaches, supermarkets, and things to do, with plenty of parking available.
