Hotel Alda Avenida

The breakfast was simple but offered plenty of choice, including toast, cheese, ham, tomato, and yoghurts. The coffee machine made really nice coffee. The room was cozy, the air conditioning worked well, and we slept comfortably, though the two beds were quite different: one was very soft and the other much firmer. The bathroom was basic but had shampoo and shower gel in the bath/shower. The staff were really helpful, and the location is brilliant near the city centre, about 10-15 minutes on foot from the train station and five minutes from the bus stop for Santiago airport.

The rooms are cute and fairly priced, though small, with a small bath. We were on floor 4 in a loft conversion and bumped our heads a few times. The staff were friendly, and they had an iron and hair dryer if needed. Breakfast was cheap, though we didn’t have it.

The AC didn’t work at all, so we had to open the windows for air and flies came in. The walls were paper thin, and conversations in the next room were easy to hear. One staff member was very nice and helpful, but the other two seemed indifferent and acted as if we were interrupting them. There was no coffee in the morning unless you bought their breakfast. It was overpriced and very dated, with a horrible vanity light in the bathroom. A dump for the price.

The people were nice and the location was great. The rooms were nice too, but the bathroom was odd. The door didn’t open the way you’d expect, and it was hard to open from inside. The shower door was loose and didn’t keep the water in very well.
