The restaurant food was awful and inedible, and the room and food were very expensive. The place looks and feels like an old factory that’s been converted. When I told the receptionist my room was cold, she just looked up and didn’t acknowledge the complaint. A real let down in a great city like Santiago.

The cleaning was OK, but I wouldn’t recommend this place. The AC didn’t work, and every noise in the hotel came through, so forget getting any sleep. Breakfast was just toast with ham, with no continental choices, plus two awful supermarket cakes.

We stayed two nights in May 2024. The staff were friendly, diligent, and nice, and the rooms were clean with a good shower. Castro Hotel is quiet and well kept, though the decoration is dated. It’s a little way from the city, and a taxi costs around 10 to 12 euros. The lobby cafe is acceptable, but I think the food is a little expensive for its quality.

If you want a large private room for the price, this is an option. The room was big and fine, with plenty of amenities. Service was OK. The gentleman at the desk was very polite and checked me in quickly, though sometimes you have to ring for service and there isn’t much on offer. It’s out of the way, but a bus to Santiago goes by just outside, 1.55E-30 mins, or a taxi is 20E-10m. Walking isn’t advised.
