Hostal Pico Sacro I

After walking 800 km over 36 days, we got a great night's sleep here. Our room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet for such a central spot. The staff were friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the location, just a three minute walk from Santiago Cathedral. At €145 a night, the rate was about the same as other equivalent hostels in the area.

We spent two quiet nights here and didn't hear anything from outside or other guests. The room was clean and comfortable, with an en-suite bathroom and TV. The hotel is near the old city centre and only a couple of hundred metres from the Cathedral. At check-in, the receptionist, who I believe was the manager, showed us to our room and noticed it was my wife's birthday, then wished her a happy birthday. She also gave us helpful suggestions for things to do and places to go.

It's basic but comfortable enough, and the staff are friendly. The main draw is how close Hostal Pico Sacro is to the cathedral and historic centre. St. Francis's church is right there too. It reminded me of the pisos around Vatican City.

We loved our two nights here after the Camino. The woman at reception, who also worked in the café, was a superstar: always smiling and helpful, and she went out of her way to arrange our taxi when we left. Thank you so much! :)
