Pension Casa da Balconada

After I injured myself near the end of the Camino, they kindly brought me bags of ice for my ankle and recommended some good nearby restaurants. We also had a problem with luggage we’d stored elsewhere. Jose retrieved it for us, then even met us at the train station days later to hand it over as we passed through Santiago on our way home. That was top-notch service, and the owners are genuinely kind. I stayed here for two nights with another pilgrim after we finished the Camino de Santiago. Jose, his sister Maria, and Carla were so welcoming, compassionate, and kind, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from the cathedral and places to eat. The rooms are clean and cozy. There are only six rooms over three floors, so don’t hesitate to book if they have a room available. I wish I could give the property and team six stars.

Carla, Jose, and Jose’s sister took such good care of my wife and me. Their recommendations were amazing, and they made me feel right at home. I can’t wait to come back.

We got a lot of help from the staff when we needed to find a second hotel for another night in Santiago. The place is cozy and only steps from the cathedral. It’s on a pedestrian street, with just occasional cars passing, and no nearby bars keeping you awake. The room, location, staff, and hotel were all great, and the rate was reasonable.

I haven’t had a stay this lovely in a long time. The location is spot on, and the staff were warm, attentive, and so welcoming. I’d book here again without a second thought.
