Apartamentos Orfas

It's a spacious, comfortable apartment in an excellent location. Check-in was set for 5:00 PM, though they helpfully let us in at 4:00 PM. At night there was a lot of noise, especially when classes started. The place smelled, and we couldn't open the windows because mosquitoes came in and there was no repellent. Communication felt impersonal, almost like dealing with a chatbot. It also needs maintenance, and the cleaning wasn't up to much. I'd rate it 3.5.

The decor is lovely and the location is perfect, but we couldn't get proper rest during our week-long stay in October 2021. Street noise from parties and conversations came right in at night because the place isn't soundproofed. There are other things that need attention too: the shower drain doesn't work properly, and there's little privacy between the apartments. From the bedroom or bathroom, you can see into the shared area when leaving. A simple curtain could help.

There's plenty of room, it's bright and comfortable, and everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen had basics like oil, spices, and sugar, and there are several large closets. It felt like having what we needed to live comfortably, and I'd be happy to stay again. The coded doors are handy too. A few drawbacks are easy enough to address: it's not soundproofed as advertised, there's no elevator, the sofa bed is uncomfortable, and the Wi-Fi was slow and out for half my stay. The 24-hour phone line didn't answer when I called about Wi-Fi at night, though they picked up without trouble in the afternoon. Also, the living room window faces a space shared with the other apartments, so people might see into the bedroom or bathroom area. I used towels as a temporary cover; blinds or curtains on both sides would solve it.

Walking in was a pleasant surprise. Inside, the apartments are quite nice, with a huge living room joined to the kitchen and a double bedroom at the back. They're also well placed, almost in the center of Santiago. I'll definitely come back.
