Pensión Pumar

It was a horrible night. The bed had bedbugs, the bathrooms were dirty, and the place smelled of drugs. We complained, but they said it was our fault. We even have photos of the bugs. It was full. I don't recommend it to anyone.

The location is handy, just a few minutes' walk from the Cathedral of St. James, and the staff were helpful with questions and tips. Finding the place is confusing, though. The address says No. 28, but that's a different apartment building. Check in at the adjacent bar and restaurant, where the barrista acts as concierge, then they take you across the street to Hostal Pumar, which has no sign. The room needs updating and AC for warmer weather. Even with the large windows wide open at night, my room stayed too warm for restful sleep.

After finishing our pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, my wife and I had a wonderful time in the city, and we'd love to visit again. The family atmosphere was lovely from the start: a very nice welcome, and a kind woman showed us around the room and gave us lots of useful information. The room was spotless, with comfortable beds and beautiful old furniture. It was cleaned daily, with care taken around our belongings, and the bathroom was very comfortable. The restaurant served delicious food and good beer. Everyone on staff was friendly and polite, always ready with a smile and a kind word. It was a pleasure to support Spain together during the Euro 2024 match against Italy, and we also appreciated being able to watch our team Poland play, with a delicious dinner and friendly atmosphere :) Thank you all so much! :)

For what it costs, I'd look elsewhere. The location is fairly near the center, but check-in is at a cafe, followed by a walk to a somewhat dated apartment. My room was clean, but very old-fashioned, and the curtains had been tied together to keep them shut.
