Real Santiago

The breakfasts at the café next door are excellent, and you can include them in your rate. The location is another strong point. But the hotel feels very expensive for what you get. The rooms are worn, the beds are thin, and some curtains work while others don’t. The bathroom had more mold and grime than I was comfortable with, missing pieces on the faucet, and a shower so tiny there was nowhere for shampoo or soap. I had to shower in stages, leaving the products outside so I could move enough to wash. There wasn’t even room to bend down and pick something up from the shower floor. It felt like a phone booth. The young man who checked us in was lovely and very helpful, but he was the only person we saw at reception, and only that first afternoon. When we left in the morning, we weren’t sure what to do with the keys, so we just left them on the desk. I think they’re trying, but the place needs some work to get up to standard.

A good buffet breakfast and a great location, with staff to match. The rooms are small, but very clean and full of character. I thought it was good value and deserves more than a one-star rating. Just be aware there’s no lift or air conditioning.

Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a good breakfast. We did have noisy guests in the corridor outside our room, though. Sounded like they’d started a marching band out there. 😁

I stayed for a month and was treated well by all the staff. Both the B&B and the restaurant are worth a visit, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Try the Orange Cake🍰. I’d stay again.
