I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years, and it’s still one of my favourite beaches. It’s small, really clean and very hot, with good facilities and lifeguards keeping watch. The waves can get rough and big, but that’s part of the fun, and the lifeguards let you know when it’s safe to swim. I’ve made happy memories here on my own, as a couple and now with a little one. Can’t wait to come back.

We had a great time here as a family, and would come back on another Tenerife holiday. The beach has medium-sized black sand, and the waves made for a real thrill as we rode them back to shore. You can rent sunbeds and put them wherever you like. Public toilets cost €3, and the attentive lifeguards kept an eye on everyone. Swimming leaves the sand feeling smooth and shiny on your skin, though the grains are bigger than ordinary sand and take a few washes to get out of your hair. Definitely recommend it.

The black gritty sand beach is lovely, and sunbeds cost 3 euros each. The toilets are spotless, though there’s a charge. Lifeguards supervise, and swimming can be great for confident swimmers once you’re through the breakers. Getting in and out of the water can be tricky: it gets deep quickly, there are rocks underfoot and the waves are strong, though those waves are fun too. Space is limited, so get there early. I’d have given five stars, but the sunbeds don’t recline, which made reading uncomfortable.

The place was spotless and well cared for, and we loved the area. It’s very hilly, though, so be aware if you have mobility problems or young children. My 19-month-old found the uphill walks difficult. We’re definitely planning to visit again next year.

The black sand gives this place a special feel, though it can get very hot in the sun. Wooden planks make it easier to reach the cafe, showers and WC, and you can rinse your feet at the free showers. There’s beach equipment to borrow and a lifeguard on duty now. I first came in 2007, when the beach was wild and unprotected. Highly recommend it at sunset.
