Breakfast was a real bargain at 4€, and there was plenty of it. The host was kind and very helpful, and the countryside felt quiet and peaceful. Santiana del Mare is about a 15-minute walk away, so it’s a nice middle ground if you’d rather stay outside the city. A wonderful place to stay.

For a B&B, this is a good deal. The room was clean and nice, though a little small, like the TV in it. Parking is right by the entrance, the coffee is good, and the place has a homelike feel. I’d recommend it.

The room was quiet, clean, and nicely decorated. The lovely hostess served me an excellent breakfast, and the people running Podada Herran were very nice and efficient. I had a pleasant stay at a charming property and hope to come back.

After so many stays at familiar hotels and hostels in Madrid, Toledo, and Avilà, finding this lovely home in a sleepy village was a great change. It feels like home, and the host really knows how to make guests feel welcome. English speakers can be hard to find in this part of Spain, but don’t let that put you off or lead you into those traps. This town, region, and B&B are easy to miss, yet they made my trip stand out. The place is gorgeous.

We had dinner at the restaurant our hostess recommended, #bisoneterojo, and it was perfect. Lydia greeted us warmly when we arrived and took care of everything we needed. The place was super clean and comfortable, with a quiet, pastoral feel. It’s an easy walk into Santillana and a great base for visiting Altamira. A lovely little spot to spend a night away from Santillana’s busy tourist crowds.
