Baixamar

We really enjoyed the food.

There were bedbugs everywhere in the room, on the walls, ceiling, floor, bed, and blankets. It was completely infested. We didn't notice during the day because the insects come out at night, but I couldn't sleep, worried I might get bitten. The old furniture may have contributed to the infestation. There was nobody at the hotel overnight to complain to. Paying any price for this kind of experience is awful. I wouldn't recommend it.

The place is basic but cheap, so that part was fine. Still, we had no hot water all morning on the day we were leaving and couldn't even shower. We called to ask what was going on. They said there was a problem but didn't offer any fix. They don't supply shower gel, shampoo, or anything to wash with either, which most hotels do. Breakfast was sparse and cost extra. I really can't recommend this place.

The location is spectacular and the price is very good. Our room was a bit dated and pretty average, but it did the job. It wasn't quiet at all: we could hear staff in the corridors and other guests just opening their doors, and the staff seemed to have little empathy for the other guests. We brought our dog and they were lovely with him, giving us a blanket and bowl. The pet fee was €6 a day. I'd skip the hotel's parking, though. It's an uneven, cobbled lot with weeds, and they charge €8 a day for it. There is free beach parking 50 meters away, which the hotel recommended. Better than I expected, and I'd recommend the place.
