The room was basic, and there was no shampoo, though the clean sheets were one small plus. Noise carried all night through the paper-thin walls. When we first arrived, the host was extremely rude and acted as if our being there was a nuisance, even though we’d already booked and paid. Later, we asked for help with blinds that wouldn’t close, and she cursed at us when she came to the door. A very unpleasant, unprofessional stay. I wouldn’t recommend it, there are plenty of other good options in Sarria.

We had a confirmed booking.com reservation for two nights in the alburgue, but they gave our room away and put us in the pension instead. There were no towels, and although free Wi-Fi is advertised, I tried periodically for three hours without getting it to work. The rooftop patio photo isn’t accurate, there’s no furniture up there. They gave us just one key for three people, which was a problem.

A quiet, clean guesthouse with comfortable rooms and beds, and I slept really well. The foot gel was a thoughtful touch. There’s also a small terrace where you can eat a sandwich if you’ve brought one from home.

The owner made us feel welcome right away, handing over a town map and pointing out where things were. When I left a necklace behind, she said she’d do what she could to get it back to me, which was such a kind gesture. The room was spotless, with two roomy beds and a new bathroom. It’s tucked away somewhere quiet for resting, but still close to the restaurants and cafés. Great value, and after staying in similar places along the Camino de Santiago, I’d happily recommend this one.
