Hotel Led Sitges

Our apartment had the basics we expected for a 2-star place. There were plates, cutlery, cups and pans, though we had to wash some of them before using them. The beds were comfortable, and there was a little balcony, but from the narrow street you inevitably look straight at the people in the takeaway opposite. The Wi-Fi rarely had a good signal and often didn’t work at all. The location and arrival were hard for me. We booked because the listing advertised a rooftop terrace near the beach, but our apartment wasn’t at the address we walked to. The taxi couldn’t get through the narrow side streets, which was difficult with my mobility problems, and we had to walk a few streets farther to another building. It might only be a few minutes for most people, but with my walking stick and suitcase, while already in pain, it was a much longer and unwelcome walk. The key card said ‘Balcon’, and after a mix-up we thought we were on the fifth floor. There were only three floors, so we took the lift to the top. There we saw room numbers, so we went to the second floor and found a room called ‘Balconette’ or something similar. We assumed the card label had been shortened. It opened the door, and we found people’s things on the floor and a man asleep in bed. We left straight away and shut the door, unsure whether he might be angry if we woke him to ask what was going on. I couldn’t walk back to the reception house, so we went down another floor and found a second room labelled ‘Balcon’. Our card opened that one too. It was empty, so we assumed it was ours. It made us wonder whether we could get into other people’s rooms, and whether they could get into ours. The apartment was extremely loud. The centre of Sitges and the side streets were busy, a takeaway across the street stayed open late, and people in the other apartments shouted at all hours, slammed doors and played loud music. We stayed only a couple of nights because we felt uncomfortable and didn’t extend our stay. We couldn’t reach the host by phone or email, so we cut our losses and moved. I wouldn’t recommend these apartments or return. They felt extremely unsafe and weren’t what the listing advertised.

On a very hot day in Sitges, over 40 degrees, we checked into the room we’d booked and paid extra for because it had AC. It was dirty, the dishes weren’t properly washed and the AC didn’t work. When we asked someone to help turn it on, they accused us of not knowing how. We asked to move to a room with working AC, but were told that wasn’t possible and a repair person would come the next day. We then asked for a solution, since we’d paid for an air-conditioned room but couldn’t cope with the heat. The person who seemed to be the manager was rude, saying whether someone needs AC depends on the person, that she didn’t think it was too hot there, and that we should stop complaining. We had one of the worst nights in a long time in that sweaty hotel, then left the next morning without compensation or even an apology for the inconvenience. If I pay for AC, I should at least be compensated when it can’t be provided. I’ll never go back.

Be careful with this hotel. We had a very bad experience. The apartment owner didn’t answer our messages, and when he did respond to the doorbell, he was very rude. We sent several messages asking to check in early, but got no answer. When we arrived at noon and rang the bell to offer to pay the extra fee, he spoke rudely and cut off the call. We tried calling again several times, but he kept hanging up, so we had to wait a couple of hours with our luggage before we could get in. The bathroom was clogged and flooded the whole apartment and the hall. We spent the whole day and night with water everywhere. While my wife was still in the bath, someone knocked, shouted, “I’m the owner, open the door,” and tried to force their way in. We were scared because the person seemed to be opening the door the wrong way. My wife got out of the bath, and we opened the door and explained the shower was blocked. He looked at the bathroom and left without saying anything about fixing it. We called him several times and sent lots of WhatsApp messages; he saw them but didn’t respond. The next day we tried again, still with no reply. When we returned from the beach, someone had gone into our apartment and fixed the problem without asking us first.

We’ve been to Sitges twice with my partner and booked through Led-sitges both times. We were happy with how it worked out. On one booking we accidentally chose a balcony instead of a terrace, but the lovely staff member moved us to a better room without any fuss. It was comfortable, and we had a lovely stay.
