La Santa Maria

The staff were pleasant, and I could see the maître d' doing his best, but the kitchen let the place down. We waited a long time to be seated and the food took ages. The prawn salad was only Thai-style in name, though it was okay. The mixed seafood grill was badly overcooked, unless that's how you like seafood. We chose the restaurant because it was always full and the menu looked interesting.

The food came out quickly, the portions were good, and everything was well cooked. Prices were reasonable, including the wine. We enjoyed eating outside in a great spot, and the service was friendly. They also made things easy for English-speaking tourists. We stopped in for dinner and were happy with everything.

The sea views were incredible, and it was good value for the money. La Santa Maria is right by the beach, less than a minute's walk away. My bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet, so I slept well. Check-in was quick, and after checkout we could leave our luggage there for the rest of the day. Late checkout at 4pm was also available for an extra 20eur. There were three reasons I took off two stars: we didn't get the room we'd booked, there were quite a lot of ants in the room, and breakfast was pretty horrible. I'd suggest finding a local cafe for breakfast instead.

People were queuing at the entrance while we ate, so I felt I'd picked the right place. The food gets an A-plus from me, without exaggerating. The terrace is one of the coolest I've ever been to, and the waiters were wonderfully kind and professional. Our orders came quickly, and they always had something nice to say.
