Pula Golf Resort

The service was excellent, and special thanks to the team for handling specific food allergies so carefully and responsibly, always with a good sense of humor. The chef is inventive and clearly knows every cooking technique. Add a beautiful green setting and golf, and it made for a wonderful discovery. We highly recommend the food.

For around €300 a night for two, we had golf and dinner included, though drinks were extra, and that felt like excellent value. The grounds were clean and pleasant, parking was nearby, and the club restaurant was excellent. Some rooms include golf. Our standard room was basic, and footsteps from the floor above came through quite loudly. Still, we'd recommend the place any time.

We came here for our first visit with Alcanada booked for a few days later, so our expectations weren't especially high. This course turned out to be superb. The buggy was ready when we arrived, and the practice area has a great two-tier range and putting greens beside the clubhouse and first tee. The opening holes are pleasant and fairly straightforward. From the fifth, once the lakes come into view, the course really gets going. The tees were in good shape, the fairways excellent, and the greens superb. Plenty of holes make you think your way around instead of just reaching for driver, which kept the round interesting. After a brilliant 18 holes, we had a bite to eat and a drink in the clubhouse. Can't fault the place and will definitely be back.

The rooms were the real problem. We stayed in the modern apartments, which had cheap furniture, needed painting, had serious damp issues, and had air conditioning that didn't work properly. The beds were very uncomfortable. The resort's design and gardens are lovely, but it feels like costs are being cut in places. The breakfast and dining room is great, yet the IKEA utensils don't fit the setting. The restaurant was the best part, with delicious food and good service. The golf course was in okay condition. We'd come back to play golf, but wouldn't stay overnight.
