R2 Cala Millor

We were unlucky with our stay. The water went out one day, and after returning from a full-day trip past midnight, we found nobody to contact and had no information. We eventually went to the next R2 building. The receptionist kindly offered us rooms for one night, but couldn't explain more or let us stay in them for the rest of the trip. Those rooms weren't clean: there were dirty towels and poop in the toilet. They had no fridge either, so we had to throw away the food from our first apartment. We got free breakfast as an apology, which was kind, but didn't make up for the stress of travelling with a minor. It's a budget-friendly place, but this was a very rough experience.

We stayed for three nights as a family of five and would rate it 3.5 out of 5. It may suit larger groups, depending on what you expect from the service. The apartment sits right in the busy middle of Cala Millor, with the beach very close and a sea view from one of our two balconies. The front office and service staff were helpful and friendly. The kitchen was reasonably equipped, though the flat toaster seemed odd and wasteful to us. There was a good selection of German TV channels, Aldi was an easy walk away, and smaller supermarkets were even closer. There were several drawbacks: no free WiFi, no pool, and you need to bring things like dishwashing detergent. The lift lights were faulty and stayed off during our visit, so we rode in the dark. The bathroom soap dispenser was broken, and our safe didn't work. There's no air conditioning, only fans. We were on a higher floor, and the sea breeze helped if we opened the room windows, but then it got noisy, especially at night when rowdy partygoers passed by. The surroundings were noisy in general.

From the balcony we had a great view of Cala Millor Beach, with restaurants and supermarkets all around. Check-in and checkout were very relaxed, and the service was good. The little kitchen had enough plates and dishes, though some basic cooking ingredients would have been handy. You also have to pay extra for WiFi, as it isn't part of the hotel price.

The apartment was spacious and decent, with the beach close by, but it's a basic budget place and has quite a few restrictions at Hotel Veronica. There's no air conditioning or fans, swimming isn't allowed after 8 pm, and even tap water at dinner isn't free if you're not all-inclusive. We had booked breakfast and dinner, halb pension, with a two-bedroom apartment in Midas.
