Having a private bathroom in every bedroom made a big difference with our group of friends. We rented the whole house for New Year's Eve and were very comfortable. The shared areas stayed at a pleasant temperature, and each bedroom had its own thermostat. There are a couple of steps up to each room since the house is split across different levels, which adds some charm. The main drawback is the steep staircase to the bedrooms, with narrow steps that may be awkward because of the original layout.

Our first New Year's Eve in a rural place turned out to be a really positive stay. There are lots of stairs and changes in level around the house, but all 12 adults and six children, aged 2 to 10, managed fine. The rooms are nicely decorated, and the bedrooms are roomy, with spacious bathrooms and big, comfortable beds.

The village is lovely and quiet, and it makes a handy base for Logroño and places within about an hour, including monuments and scenery in the Sierra del Camero mountains, Rioja Alavesa, Vitoria, Soria and Pamplona. The owner can share information if you need it. Keep in mind, though, that the village's two bars don't serve tapas, dinner, sandwiches or snacks. You'll need to order dinner at the guesthouse in advance, drive somewhere to eat, or bring food yourself. If you ask, the owner can help by leaving a cooler. My room was spacious and comfortable, with its own bathroom, and breakfast was reasonably priced. The facilities were adequate, and the service was friendly and good. As you'd expect at a rural guesthouse, there's no elevator. They put me in the first room because of my knee problems, so I only had a few stairs to deal with. The other rooms have more, which may be an issue for older guests or anyone with mobility difficulties.

The village was peaceful, and the location worked well for us, about 15 minutes from Logroño. A group of friends and I stayed over the October bank holiday weekend. When we arrived, the owner didn't answer our calls, so we had to get the keys from the village bar. Also, the house isn't suitable for anyone over 1.75 meters tall.

We had a wonderful meal and the service was fantastic. My wife and I stayed the first weekend in March, and the house was beautiful, very quiet, clean and well looked after. We had a great time.
