Hotel Candor

Hotel Candor is a real hidden gem if you want to get away from the buzz of the bigger cities, and it’s only a short drive from Pontevedra. The views are stunning, and the property is spotless and clearly well cared for. We had fresh food at the restaurant, beautifully plated and prepared really well. The staff were gracious, helpful, and amazing throughout.

We came for dinner rather than staying at the hotel. The building has been renovated beautifully, with a lovely terrace overlooking the valley and huge windows in the dining room that give you the same view. We’d booked a table and arrived on time, but it was such a pleasant evening that we tried to have a drink on the busy terrace first. One waiter was trying hard to serve all the occupied tables, but he was clearly overwhelmed. After waiting a while for our order, we gave up on the drinks and went to our table. The same waiter brought our drinks there too, by then exhausted and sweaty, still rushing around and doing his best. He was very nice and apologetic, and none of the problems were his fault. Two other waitresses were there, but didn’t seem to be doing much; one took our order, and was pleasant enough though not very welcoming. Later she told us several dishes from an already quite limited menu had sold out. The meal itself was enjoyable, and the charming waiter made up for a lot. It’s a pity the hotel lets the staff and diners down this way. On a busy evening they should have another person helping with drinks, and order enough food for the listed dishes, including for diners who book at the last minute. There aren’t many other places open for dinner nearby on weekdays, which makes it all the more frustrating. This lovely hotel has plenty of potential, and I’d love to see it do well. A few small, probably inexpensive changes could make a real difference. Please support that hardworking waiter and do better.

My whole stay was perfect, and I’ll be back. It’s a lovely modern hotel, clean throughout, with a nice room, good food, and such friendly, helpful staff, especially pilar and frank. I needed an early check-in, and they made it no problem at all. I really can’t fault the place.

A charming little jewel of a hotel in a peaceful village, not far from pontevedra. The design is top notch, the service is amazing, and the value for the price is incredible. The beds and covers are super comfortable, it’s very dog friendly, and the restaurant is top !!!
